I'm a SAHM of 5-year-old triplet boys. I'm married - almost 20 years - to my highschool sweetheart. I'm at least a 4th-, and maybe a 5th-, generation Texan. I'm not much on barbeque, but I do enjoy all the elbow room here and of course the people. I like to say the word "y'all" even if it is a cliche. I don't ride horses but I love to draw them, and longhorns, love to draw longhorns.
I love reading, writing, drawing, photography and eclectic crafts. B.T. (before triplets), I was a software/hardware trainer and technical writer for Compaq, then HP, after the merger.
I do a little bit of portrait photography here and there. I love my Canon 20d and covet white lenses - maybe someday.
My philosophy - Photoshop & Oreos can fix most things.
Since mid-June of this year I've been obsessed with graphite drawing. I had a light-bulb moment where drawing finally clicked for me - I went from drawing stick figures to shaded, proportional drawing in just a few days. It has to be one of the craziest things that's ever happened to me. It's wonderful, but sometimes a little bit freaky.
I love text, letters, numbers and typography. I am deeply into the Internet Archive. Anything vintage or repurposed is great too. Also, anything 1890 - 1920, especially illustrated children's books (fairy tales), flappers, jewelry - all that art nouveau stuff.
My favorite colors are jewel tones for the most part, and some pastels. I've got an aqua/teal thing going on right now.
I like birds - anything from Cardinals to Crows. If it has wings, (and feathers) I like it.
Handmade postcards are my most recent craft-love. I also really like collage, digital and otherwise.
I quit watching TV in 1997. Just woke up one day and decided that I'd had enough of the noise and canned laughter. TV is just a manipulation of thought to me, it just gets on my last nerve. We do watch DVDs - gotta love NetFlix.
I don't really have a favorite. Books in general are my favorite. I love everything about them - new and old, illustrated or not. I love the way they smell and feel and how they sound - crackly new spines and the soft whispers of old favorites.
I also collect things I find in books - receipts, doodles, etc. - one time I even found a piece of paper with my first name written in bubble letters and surrounded by a rainbow.
