"Biting the Sun" by Tanith Lee - all Tanith Lee, really. "The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson Burnett - all her books, really. There's a pattern forming here . . .
Fiction: fantasy books; mysteries that are really mysteries, not almost-horror-books. Not so into romance books, can't read horror at all.
Non-fiction: All quilting books, all embroidery books, all sewing books. No knitting or crocheting, please, not really my thing. Books on gardening, especially food gardening. Oh, and how to care for houseplants. Books on most things esoteric, especially astrology and tarot. Wiccan books. Quaker books. My husband is a potter and a woodworker, any books on those topics would be joyfully accepted too.
Oooooo . . . . and cookbooks of the vegetarian or ethnic persuasion!!!
Zines: Love them. Just about any zine will be greeted with glee.
My tastes are all over the map.
I enjoy: - old jazz, especially female vocalists - old R&B - most 60s music - 70s funk - most 80s music - Tom Waits - Beth Orton - new wave country (think Nico Case and Her Boyfriends) - goth music (most all of it, too many bands to list) - Anonymous 4, Medieval Babes, Dead Can Dance, and other similar bands - Johnny Cash - Macy Gray - Indigo Girls
I am pretty open, as long as its not: - modern, psuedo-punk stuff that plays on mainstream radio - new country - electronica - new R&B
I am not that in to movies. I'm definitely not into movie related paraphernalia, so I guess it doesn't make much sense to list what movies I do like.
I don't own a TV, nor do I watch TV more than an hour or two a year, in hotel rooms, generally.
Quilting is my number one "making stuff" passion. I do cloth ATCs as well, make some clothes, and bead a bit. I also use a lot of sketchbooks, art pens, pencils, colored pencils, etc. I don't do anything knitting or crochet related. I do a lot of lino cutting and printing. Love pens that are permanent on fabric, anything that permanently marks fabric. Oh, and I like stamps, especially handmade ones but all stamps are yummy. Embroidery stuff too. Great pens are a weakness of mine, black fine point ones especially, but fine point pens in all colors will be loved and used constantly.
I live in the midwest of the USA in a college town and love it. I am married to the kindest, most loving man in the universe and we have two year old son together who is very blond, serious, and squish-able. We enjoy working on our tiny house together, gardening (vegetables especially), we both quilt and collect fabric passionately, taking other people's garbage and making great stuff from it, and we are both vegetarian. I am a Pagan and a Quaker and enjoy discussing spirituality with people of all faiths. I love road trips, I love bodies of water of all kinds (but I grew up on Lake Michigan and think it is the most beautiful of all, hands down), and taking a better look at what is already around me.
