I'm a children's librarian at a small public library in Utah. I've begun a great weight-loss adventure (after 34 years of being the fat kid) and thus far I've lost 30 lbs. go me I have a goal to be at 155 lbs by next November, so here's hoping :-D
I also have a fluffy, black cat named Gigi. She is fancy and cute.
I dabble in many things and excel at few. In my more generous moods I think of myself as being a renaissance woman, when I re-enter reality I acknowledge that I have the attention span of a 2 year old.
I love to play card games, watch foreign movies/television/anime, blog and make absurd costumes for my cat Gigi.
I also have a completely bizzare, borderline unhealthy fascination with ninjas!
I'm fairly eclectic in my music likes and my ipod has everything from Chopin to Erasure to Peter, Bjorn & John to Squirrel Nut Zippers. However my 'go to' music tends to be alt rock!
Here is a sampling of music I love:
*Foo Fighters *311 *Shiny Toy Guns *Blue October *Beck *Cake *Postal Service *Gorillaz *Ben Folds *Audioslave
I cannot possibly list the myriad of books I love so I'll just hit some highlights:
*The Time Travelers Wife/Audrey Niffenegger *Poison Study/Maria V. Snyder *Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card *The Hallow Kingdom/Clare Dunkle *His Dark Materials Series/Philip Pullman *Sabriel/Garth Nix *and of course the Harry Potter books
I tend to read a lot of young adult lit and fantasy.
I also have an extreme aversion to Stephanie Meyer's Twilight series. Yes, I've read them but I think they are full of problems!
My all time favorite film is Stranger Than Fiction and I love all things Miyazaki (Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro)--he is freakin' brilliant!
I love, love, love martial art/romance films like *Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Shinobi: Heart Under Blade, Hero, House of Flying Daggers... and I'm enamored of Jet Li.
I'm also extremely fortunate that my small little town has an art theater which brings in foreign and independent films.
I also must mention my love of Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy...yum, yum yummy!
I kind of flit from project to project. Some of my favorite craft/art projects include:
*making penny rugs *scrapbooking & photography *painting & drawing *felted wool appliqué *felt crafts especially fingerpuppets
Here are a few of my random favorite things:
*ninjas
*robots
*aliens
*zombies
*children's literature
*lip gloss/chapsticks/lip balms
*wintergreen lifesavers
*scissors--I seriously love scissors!
*tiny, cute, adorable, useless things
*kawaii stuff--I only have access to Sanrio and would love to get other kawaii brands
*shojo/romance manga
*the color combination robin's egg blue & brown
*pens, pencils, markers...
*charms for my charm bracelet
*cell phone charms
*interesting papers, I'm a paper addict
*polka dots and stripes
*frogs
*hedgehogs
*cute japanese print fabrics
*fun totes, purses & pouches
*whimsy
*notepads, notebooks and sticky notes
*cool, unique hats
*chopsticks
*picture books from different countries and in different languages
*hair clippies
*silver (not gold)
*hot chocolates (but not tea or coffee)
*lucky cats
*favorite colors: brown, light blue, lavender, orange, pink, lime green
