Now, about me: I am a 30-something and fabulous single gal who's lovin' life and loves to live it. I enjoy making things, re-purposing things, altering things, and reading about other people doing the same. I love to sing, eat, drink, read, and cook and my life and surroundings reflect that. I love my family and my friends and would do anything for them. I love God and His son and am secure in the knowledge that love is returned, and I try to live my life as a reflection of that love. I love to try new things and am currently focusing on cooking things, sewing things, and quilting things.
Things I like:
Roosters. Don't know where this came from, but lately, I dig me some roosters. But not the American country "Prim" type of roosters. More the French country style, elegant, solid white or interesting French country colored roosters...
Tuscan or Roman themed stuff. Vintage French themed stuff (think old french posters, travel, maps, etc.)
Chocolate, probably too much, but I don't like white chocolate or mint chocolate.
Wine themed things, grapes, vines, etc. Various international things.
Halloween. I'm a Christian, and I know there are lots of people who say Halloween is evil, but I personally LOVE me some halloween themed stuff. Especially vintage style or cutesy style. I prefer traditional black and orange over purple and green. Don't want any gore, but a bit of gruesome is okay. (So vintage prints with skeletons=okay; modern images from Saw=not so much)
Green, Brown metallics (think bronze, copper, burnished gold), Pewter, Russet tones, Autumn colors, toned down orange
Things I don't like:
Cutesy animal prints. Cutesy cartoon prints. Pretty much anything where the first word that comes to mind is "cute". With the exception of cats. :-)
Anything that is predominately glittery (some glitz is okay, but I'm not a big fan of bling on crafts)
Bright orange, Bright sliver, Bright green, On second thought--any color with the word bright in its name!
Other Interesting Facts (well, I find them interesting!) I collect cookbooks, but don't actually cook from them. Not that I don't cook! I just prefer to use my own skill rather than reading about someone else's. But I read cookbooks for inspiration.
I like to read a lot. My favorite authors are Dean Koontz and Diana Abu-Jaber, but I occasionally get in the mood for a trashy romance novel. When that happens, you can't beat Johanna Lindsay. I don't read as many romances these days though, so that's not my genre of choice.
I used to work at a winery (probably why I like wine and grape thing things.) so I am a big supporter of local wine. I love trying wine from all over the world, especially from regions not typically associated with the wine industry because you never know when you are going to stumble across a gem. If you are swapping with me, and know of a good wine from your region that is available nationwide, I would love to hear about it. Maybe I can track it down and give it a try.
Christian Contemporary music, Norah Jones, Michael Buble, Big Band & Swing, traditional holiday music (even when it's not the holiday season), Queen (more the "Killer Queen" type, not the "We Will Rock You" type), The Cure (how did I go 30+ years without ever hearing them?!?!?). Honestly I like nearly every type of music except for rock. Anything with a really loud really "grinding" guitar I'm not a fan of...
I don't know...I'm not much into American movies. I like Bollywood. But if I had to choose, I guess I'd say Braveheart, Amelie, Gladiator, certain romantic comedies, Up (made me cry, laugh, cry and laugh some more!)
Castle; The Closer; Switched at Birth; Doctor Who (David Tennant was the best, but I'm flexible on my Doctor preferences); Buffy--Spike is my boyfriend [swoons]; Once Upon a Time; Grimm; Jane by Design; Psych (I heart me some Shawn); Saving Hope (I heart Joel)
--Scrapbooking, card making, collage.
--I recently participated in a swap that required decorated envelopes and that was a ton of fun, so I may try my hand at that for a while...
--Soap making (only made melt & pour so far, but would love to try the traditional method)
--Jewelry making
--Making mineral eye shadows
--Sewing (am currently into making aprons, but I am really a beginner)
--Quilting. I just finished my first quilt and it was awesome. Now I want to make a ton more!
I am a Christian (Baptist) and I am very involved in my church. Currently I help coordinate a ladies fellowship event to make cards for our outreach program. If you would like to send blank cards for use in this program, PM me for details.
Thanks so much to @bb2 for the wonderful cards to use in our outreach program!
I especially love anything that looks vintage, old world, etc. even if it's brand new and only looks vintage.
I love to cook and collect old recipes. Copies of old handwritten recipes from your grandmother would be great!
Recipes for preserving foods--I am very interested in learning about this nearly forgotten art.
