NB The 1st and the 8th of May are public holidays in South Africa - if I click send on those days it means I have put the letters in the post but they might have the following day's date on as the post is generally only collected on working days.
I'm also having trouble getting international letter stamps so a lot of my swaps will have electronic stamps on them which I know aren't as nice :( sorry.
16 April 2019: I had a bad break-up last year and stopped swapping for a while but I am back now! Moved into a new, creepy, Victorian house where a murder took place seventeen years ago!
New Year's resolution: try and get my short stories published!
Looking for people to swap stories and do (kind) critiques and comments.
Collecting scrunchies!
Cape Town embroiderer, curator, creative writer, 28, female and human.
I studied art history, curating, English literature and creative writing which all feed into my interests. Talking of which: another is food. All food. Love cooking and hand written recipes (note: I don't eat seafood). I'm trying to learn Spanish and I spend my free time embroidering and writing.
Currently I live in Cape Town, South Africa. I've lived in CT most of my life except for a while in the U.K. (Loved living there and I do miss it sometimes). I work as a curator in a giant archive in the city centre where I do more admin and less curating than I would like but I also get to lecture on an Honours in Curatorship course which is great! As stated above I am 28 but I feel like I've always been 40 and I certainly dress like I was born in the 40s. I'm a member of sendsomething and I will make anything I send you look pretty (promise).
Clothes, cats, coffee, vintage everything, old kitsch stuff, most art, writing (of course), chocolate, anything that's been sewed, Virginia Woolf, Catholic iconography, miniatures, the colour pink, pale yellow, magic, true crime, podcasts, swimming, all water, antiques, second hand clothing, thrift shops, charity shops, grocery shops, (all shops?), cooking and baking, gin, dancing, botanical prints, The Arts and Craft Movement, William Morris, old maps, feminism and lists.
I don't like exercise unless it is funtime dancing or swimming. I have trouble breathing (it's a long story but, basically, my nostrils are messed up on the inside and they don't let in enough air).
Dressing well and eating too much.
I really like plants and flowers but everything I grow turns out a disaster.
Talking of things I'm bad at: Can anyone help me? I want to add some images of the art I make but I can't figure out how to do that. Someone more tech savvy please help me. Update: Rockybeach helped me enormously by telling me to take a look at @homeanheart 's profile. Anyone needing tech help look there!
*Anything MFM related (My Favorite Murder Podcast)
*Vintage embroidery
*Anything vintage, anything old.
*Anything with William Morris prints/designs.
*Miniatures (I really like small versions of grocery products eg. I have a 1 inch milk carton).
*Vintage botanical or vegetable pages.
*Hanging Christmas decorations for December - handmade ones would be extra special.
*Tiny embroidery hoops (about one inch or smaller) for necklaces and brooches (you can't get them in SA so I have to import them). Like these
*Kewpie dolls.
*Catholic iconography or little statuettes, especially of the Virgin Mary.
But otherwise anything linked to my interests. Preferably no Disney stuff or beauty products, facemasks etc (I'm very fussy about these) and I like tea but I have so much right now (obviously won't rate down if I get tea or if a swap calls for it). Although I like kawaii and stickers I'm not into anything too childish. Phobias: The muppets and all other sock puppets. Just writing that made me feel a bit queasy.
It can be quite slow. We have had a few strikes over here this year. If you do not get your post within six to eight weeks of me hitting "sent" then please, please message me and I will resend - I don't mind resending and I would rather do that then you don't receive anything. I click on "sent" after I have dropped off the mail at the post box outside my local post office. They usually have two pick ups a day but only one on weekends so bare that in mind.
This is me out of focus:

Hello darling! I finally received the tag 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 the envelope full of Christmas goodies is amazing!! This one took a while but it's mostly because our Customs warehouse was relocated at the airport, so there were massive delays in mail delivery, but this was so worth the wait! I love every single detail and I want to thank you for being so kind and generous, I' in love with all the items you sent me, thank you!! P.S: How cool that you have a friend named Camila, it's a very popular name here, especially among those born around 1987 like me hehe, looks like there was a famous soap opera, or book, I can't remember, but it's quite popular around here hehe.
