I am middle aged (eww I hate that word) and teach at a public high school. I love dogs and volunteer with a dog rescue group. I love to read, quilt, cook and ride roller coasters. I like all colors except purple - it's just not my thing. I read mysteries, romance novels, some true crime and cookbooks. I don't like sci fi novels much (except the Dragonriders of Pern series) or sci fi movies. I also don't like horror movies or scary movies with lots of gore. Yuck. Gross. I like some of the reality tv shows - Top Chef, Biggest Loser but don't really watch much network tv. I like comedies - the dumber the better. I adore Mel Brooks movies and Pink Panther movies with Peter Sellers. I also love musicals - on stage and in the movies. 'Rent' is one of my favorite movies. MASH and Murphy Brown and Night Court are a few of my all time favorite tv shows.
I live half an hour from Washington, DC. I've lived in this area for over 20 years and still haven't seen all the sights. I regret not having seen the Vietnam War Memorial but am afraid I'd see too many of my high school and college classmates' names on it. I don't know if I could handle it.
I love sitting in the sun (skin cancer, bah humbug), swimming and just discovered how much fun tubing is! Talk about a nice lazy thing to do! Sit and float - yeah!
I love arts and crafts. I used to do a lot of ceramics and am certified to teach it. I quilt.. alot and love it. When I'm quilting, I work with 100% cotton fabric or flannels - no silk or fancy stuff. I've done shirt painting, air brushing and those covered photo albums. Don't do those anymore because I can't find albums that work out right. I like working with fabric but am very allergic to wool (and poison ivy hee hee).
I enjoy baking - which may be why one of my daughters graduated from culinary school with a certificate in Pastry Arts. It also explains why I am shall we say less than thin? hee hee.
I grew up in Pittsburgh and am a big Pittsburgh Steeler fan. My husband is a big Yankees fan - I can live with that but I think watching baseball and basketball on tv is a colossal bore. I bowl in a league once a week. I call it bowling, my teammates might disagree. I go to have fun and kiss off some stress.
I have two beautiful daughters in their 20's. Neither is married yet which is okay with me. One is studying culinary management at Baltimore International College and the other is a bartender. I adore them.

Just a note to let you know that I know Gaithersburg very well as my daughter lived there but now lives in North Potomac. Maybe see you someday. I am way over the "middle age" so don't hate the word.
