hello there! ♥
I'm Leslieanne, I'm 29, and I live on the southcoast of England with Darren, my fiance of nearly 12 years, Leia, my loopy little shihtzu pup, Paddy & Chewie my guinea pigs, Hells Bells my hammie, and Bubble - my bump that'll be turning into our first little non-fur baby in April :)
in a nutshell, I'm a creative, ditzy, day-dreaming, compulsively neurotic, perpetually optimistic sort of girl.
i love music, art, fashion, conversation, people watching, allsorts of craftiness, anything of a vintage or retro persuasion, floral prints, kawaii cuteness, playing with paper, drawing things, writing things down, making things, taking photographs, momiji dolls, atc's, learning new things, imagination, bubbles, birds, butterflies, and a whole lot of other good stuff, but I think that's probably enough for now.
and of course I like getting post… mail makes me happy :) ...postcards, letters, packages, randomness: all good. and i love sending it too - the thought of brightening someone's day with a little packet of fun, really makes me smile :)
anything else you'd like to know? just ask, or have a peek at my links for more of an idea about who the leslieanne girl really is :P i've been swapping and penpalling for years, but am still quite new to swapbot, so still finding my feet a little - if I mess something up, just let me know & i'll sort it out!
maybe i'll be sending something your way soon :D xx
i LOVE music. love love love. really can't stress that enough :) my favourites include, but are not limited to, in no particular order: blur, pulp, the wonderstuff, maximo park, elbow, the arctic monkeys, MGMT, feeder, the last shadow puppets, the bangles, sleeper, journey, cheap trick, the feeling, keane, ladyhawke, blondie, ELO, deathcab for cutie, amy macdonald, feist, athlete, the wombats, kiss, ok go, belle & sebastian, the klaxons, mystery jets, we are scientists, the thrills, the fratellis, INXS, katie melua, vampire weekend, and again, i could go on indefinitely, but you're probably getting bored by now :P
i don't read nearly as much as i used to, or as i should - which i'm actually trying to sort out this year, and get back in the habit. i'm also really bad at remembering authors… and titles for that matter :P a few that do stand out because i especially loved them though, are: 'the curious incident of the dog in the night-time' by Mark Haddon, 'The Lovely Bones' by Alice Sebold, and 'The Alchemist', by Paulo Coelho.
generally though, i'll give anything a whirl if it sounds interesting, (but i can do without historical epics!!), and i admit, i do enjoy a shameless chunk of mindless chick-lit from time to time.
my favourite movie ever, is breakfast at tiffany's. i idolise audrey hepburn. simply the most beautiful & chic woman who ever lived. close runner's up include empire records, heathers, the lost boys, either bill & ted, beetlejuice, either waynes world, and more or less anything involving tim burton or johnny depp. preferably both :)
i don't watch a huge amount of tv, but when i do, it's mostly shows like QI & mock the week, classics like fawlty towers & the good life, or guilty pleasures like hollyoaks & the OC :)
as a rule, i'm always making something. jewelerry, collages, atc's, doodling in my sketchbook, taking photos, making things with polymer clay, baking (nothing fancy, i rock at cupcakes though!), painting, up-cycling clothes & bags (i'm pretty awful at sewing, but love to embellish things that are already put together!), scrapbooking, making cards, cutting and sticking and playing with papery goodness… those are my favourites.
i love trying new things too, but cross stitch bores me, knitting catches me out, and crochet just makes my head hurt. (which is a pity, because i'd love to be good at it!!)
you can have a look at the things i make in my flickr galleries, on my website, & in my etsy shop :)
i'm VERY easily pleased - cheerful mail (ie: not bills!!), always makes me smile - a chatty note, a pretty postcard, a little surprise, all lovely. ...but if you'd like ideas of how to really make my day, then here's a list of the material loves of my life! :P
interesting papery stuff: handmade, origami, background, scrapbooking, leftovers, text in foreign languages, pages from music books, embellished, lottery tickets, fliers, alphabet stickers (LOVE!), postcards, photos, vintage magazines, anything a bit different that i can use in collages and the like.
unusual beads and charms: anything and everything really… glass beads, plastic beads, lucite, acrylic, metal, vintage charms, little oddities, buttons, ribbons, pretty fabric scraps… i'm a terrible hoarder of pretty bits & pieces that can be made into pretty new things :)
kawaii stickers and stationery & deco tapes - i love odd little characters, foods with faces, cute critters, and am a sucker for some sanrio too (hello kitty, chococat & kerropi especially!)
rubberstamps - clear hero arts or unmounted paper artsy style in particular
mix cds: i love music. i'm an indie girl at heart, but my tastes are very wide, and very varied, and i'm always up for hearing something new.
peanut butter m&m's - i am so jealous of all you lucky american people who can have them whenever you like - how i wish they would start selling them in the UK!!
pretty little unnecessary things - like momiji dolls, little pieces of art, something you've made (or that someone else has!), handmade plushies, journals, things… i like unusual, and i like original :)
i feel sort of ungrateful making a list of things i don't want to receive, but I guess it's better than having someone waste time & energy on a package that won't be as appreciated as it should be? anyway, the no-no list is pretty short really - i'm not a fan of tea, cutesy or floral stickers & stationery, floral scented smelly stuffs (though i do love anything that sounds edible :P), decos, fbs, slams (just don't get time for those anymore), and i can really do without those packages that seem to just be a random bunch of stuff that someone needed to get rid of - y'know? if it's junk, bin it, don't send it to someone for the sake of it. i put a lot of time & effort into everything i send out, and only ever send stuff i'd be happy to receive - i want the recipient to love it, which i think is a pretty good rule to swap by :)
