I'm taking a break from swapping due to some health issues. Hope to be back sooner than later. Do not invite me to groups or swaps
I'm a collage artist using vintage images to tell silly stories, examples are at my Etsy shop. I'm also involved with mail art and run crafts workshops for the elderly and disabled (https://www.gofundme.com/centralfallscrafts). Though it may seem like I have a lot on my plate (and maybe a lot of swaps lol), I'm very organized and I prepare swaps within a day or two after i sign up unless it's a profile based swap.
What I'm really interested in these days: collage art, music, British drama, sherlock, mail art, modern art, ideas, organized chaos, history, social psych, vintage style work
What I don't like: nasty people, porn, foul language, prejudice, narrow minds, inspirational sayings (including scripure, sorry), cutesy stuff
DEFINITE NO NO's: tea bags, coffee, food of any kind, cosmetics, scented items, jewelry (I'm allergic to a number of things--better not to take chances; I once had to throw a whole package away because the odor from a peppermint scrub product was so powerful it permeated EVERYTHING).
Favorite colors: blues, purples, reds, pinks (deep tones, not fond of pastel)
Not so much: black, dingy colors (hard to describe, I'm sorry)
Owned by cats, blue stater, quirky, geeky, and just plain weird
Though I can't have a garden where I live, I love flowers. My favorites are many and include azaleas, white and pink roses, tea roses, carnations, bleeding hearts, tulips, white lilac, violets, and the list goes on.
Some preferences: If sending me postcards in a postcard swap, please send me viewcards or art cards. Or handmade cards that are ART.
Very important: because of allergies I have, please DO NOT SEND the following items in surprise/mystery/item swaps: jewelry (yes, you can be allergic to materials used in making jewelry), FOOD, cosmetics, and any and all scented items (perfume, candles, bath stuff, potpourri, etc).
Dislikes in surprise/mystery/item swaps: child-oriented stuff, household items of any kind, and religious items (my religion is best kept to myself and I don't need to be converted to anything), clothing of any kind
Things I'd love to get in item swaps: Interesting ethnic music (storebought or burned CD), art supplies (markers, funky interesting papers, fibers, buttons, unusual beads, origami papers, handmade paper, ephemera from where you live, vintage papers, maps, sheet music, ribbon and lace), stationery items (especially note cards and pens-especially pens with a company logo or name or pens with colored ink), baseball cards, & coloring pages
jazz standards, 1920-1930s jazz, swing/big band, classic rock, Coldplay, Pink Floyd, depeche mode, david bowie, dead can dance, 70's, 80's music, classical. I really really really love Mozart's clarinet concerto, Tchaikovsky's 4th and 6th symphonies, and baroque classical. And I love disco
Don't do a lot of movies anymore but I watch a lot of documentaries and concerts via Amazon Prime. I am really interested in seeing "Dr. Strange" due out late this year. I watch most of my movies on Turner Classic Movies (TCM), and worship Gene Kelly. I finally watched "The Imitation Game" recently and was astounded to find that two Downton Abbey actors were in it, products of the great British repertory tradition.
PBS, especially Sherlock, Antiques Roadshow, WGBH's Create channel, Science Channel, certain things on Travel or food network, and VH1 Classic. Sports, especially baseball and football. I'm excited that Shetland's latest season starts in April, even more excited that Inspector Lewis comes back in the summer (but bummed it's the final season), really wish that Moffatt and Gatiss would get their Sherlock act together to produce a 4th season sooner rather than later, and wish I could get into Game of Thrones
collage/mixed media. You can see some of my style at my etsy store. I do mail art also.
I love vintage style work but I'm also into abstract expressionism. Fave artists--kandinsky, kollwitz, Matisse, Rothko, arbus, modersohn-becker, and mondrian
