update:

I spend a lot of time on your packages, and I like to know that you have received it. If you choose not to rate for some reason, at least let me know that the package arrived. Thanks.

AS OF NOVEMBER 2008: I have had such problems not receiving ratings/acknowledgement of my parcels that I have decided to take a break from swapping for awhile. It's too disappointing to spend effort, time, and money and not even hear if something was received.

I am a stay-at-home mom with 2 little girl kiddos, one who is 6, and one who is 18 months. We have 2 cats, a rabbit, and a fish. It sometimes feels like a mini zoo around here!

Favorite Crafts

I have a lot of hobbies: sewing, painting, jewelry-making, bath products, paper-work, including some scrapbooking and making cards. My husband and I also love cooking and gardening, and we are getting the girls interested in these things too.

I seem to be addicted to fabric--love especially felted pieces, japanese designs, Alexander Henry-type colors in prints; fabrics from Superbuzzy.com are my downfall.

I do a lot of work with my oldest daughter. Lately, we are doing paper crafts, including scrapbooking.

We also do work with gemstone beads, czech glass, caned glass, and sterling wire.

On my own, I paint in oils and pastels.

And I make bath oils, perfumes, glycerin-based soaps, and bath milks.

Favorite Music

80s classics, electronic dance, acoustic guitar, bluegrass, some pop (Maroon Five, Coldplay), Reggae, older French stuff (Charles Aznavour), South American music, Bjork, and lots more... Always like to learn new things!

About Me

Latest interests: beading! origami, sewing aprons, sewing cloth baby booties, making purses, photography, felting, oil painting small canvases, cooking

I've also recently started scrapbooking with my 6-year-old daughter. She particularly loves anything related to babies--pastel colors, diaper embellishments, etc.

likes/dislikes

Likes: handmade things, paper items, craft things, fabric!!, books, pens/writing things, notecards, sewing items, wool roving for felting, scrapbook papers, ephemera, buttons, ribbons, beads, books, music, vintage anything, thrifted treasures, perfumes, soaps,...anything chosen with care

also like: bees, gnomes, birds, apples, trees, flowers, monkeys, giraffes, cats, owls, dragonflies, butterflies

favorite colors: blues, pinks, reds, yellows, greens, oranges, tans

I'd love to receive anything handmade, especially something sewn, knitted, crocheted. I love handmade bath products, in any scent.

I also read and write a lot--and love crosswords and logic puzzles (not into Suduko yet, though).

I have very few dislikes, but among them are: goth, porn, nasty sarcasm

Swapping details...

I'm new to swapping, but I've found I love it, especially making up nice packages for people.

It takes me a bit of time to decide exactly what I want to send for each swap, and I make things for many of them, so please be patient! I send towards the end of the swap, but I always track the package, so I can tell you when it should arrive. I hope it's worth the wait! I will also rate my partners as soon as I receive something, and if I can, I'll take photos and post on my blog.

What I read

I love reading, and I read a lot--upwards of 2 books a week. I love most everything, nonfiction essays and books, poetry, contemporary fiction, mysteries (both cozy and hard-boiled), history, historical novels, biographies and autobiographies, science fiction, books on religion, and pretty much anything I can get my hands on. The only thing I don't read a lot of seems to be traditional romance novels, though I have read some--for some reason, these don't catch my attention as much as everything else. My latest favorites: Leif Enger's Peace Like a River, David Benioff's City of Thieves, Julia Child's My Life in France, David McCullough's Truman, and a collection of poetry by Linda Pastan. For more, see my blog. I'd love to do any private swaps of books--we have a huge library, and I love to trade books and/or recommendations.

Sadly, these flaked on me

Response: LilyO, I am so sorry you are having to wait--I have been working on something for you, but life is putting me behind schedule. I hope you will enjoy my package when I do send it. I promise it is being made with care, and I am sending it soon.

Comment: WOW! First of all- the ATC is so amazing- it's really, truly the most impressive I've ever received. You obviously put so much thought and care into every thing you create- I dare say I find it hard to imagine that you receive swaps of the same caliber- which makes me a bit sad for you. You just truly are an amazing artist, so gifted. Anyway, besides that, I'm blown away by all the gifts you sent my family. It was like a party opening your package! I really hope you didn't feel obligated to send all that just because you were running behind, because honestly, the ATC itself exceeds expectations. However, I am touched and overwhelmed by your amazing generosity. Many, many thanks to you, and may the blessings you bestow upon others multiply and return to you several fold.
Response: N--I am so glad you liked everything. We share several interests, so it was easy and fun to do--just took me awhile to get everything just so. Thanks for being patient, and thanks for the kind wishes. I love coming up with fun projects, and I love sharing them--with family, and friends, and friends in swap-bot land, too. I find the process of creating and giving is gratifying in itself, and each project is a lesson for me. Thanks for the great reception you gave my work. K.

Comment: Oh my gosh! Thank you so much. I cannot believe you sent me sandals! I love them and I don't have a pair anymore and couldn't really afford to get them this summer because I've needed to spend a lot on clothing. I really, really hope you didn't spend an arm and a leg on these. I love and appreciate all of it - I can't wait to read the book and the whale has found on a home on my cpu here at work :) Thank you, thank you, thank you! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥!!

Comment: OMGoodness!!! I wish I could fly over there and give you a great big HUG!!! Your package arrived today as my roommates and I were spring cleaning our garage in the middle of sweltering heat. It took me about 30 minutes to open the whole thing because I had to take pictures for my blog! Thank you thank you...how does one thank such care and generosity....I wish blessings to abound for you for your generosity. Thank you so so much!

Comment: What an incredible package!!! I love all of it - you went way above and beyond. I wish I could give you a hundred hearts and stars. All of the books look good. I have been wanting to find a new poetry book (I have been participating in swaps that have renewed my passion for poetry). You really seem to have a good sense of the types of book I like to read because each one that you sent looks like something that I might have picked out for myself, yet none of them are ones that I have read before. I also love all the extra goodies. I am a purse-aholic. I can't wait to use the one you sent - it is perfect for summer running around. I think it is adorable. Plus, it is full of candy and that makes it a really fun purse too! The glass pendant is beautiful (I love colored glass!) and so are the cards. I'm going to have a hard time giving those away. You are incredible and extremely generous. I can't tell you enough how much I love your package. This is the best package I have ever received and I will be enjoying it and sending thanks your way for a long time to come. You rock!!

Comment: Oh my goodness- the painting itself is beautiful- I love it and I'm touched that you made something you knew I would enjoy. I will proudly display this in my home. And the generosity of the extras is just above and beyond! Once in a rare while I get a swap that just leaves me speechless and overwhelms me- this is definitely one of those swaps. My heartfelt appreciation to you! ♥ ♥ ♥
