Hello~! I'm a 20-something anthropology & linguistics student! I'm especially interested in the Americas (from Canada to Chile!) and Asia (from Turkey to Indonesia!) I just love learning about the world and all it's wonderful people :) I am also studying Mandarin, German, and Arabic as it is my ultimate dream to someday work for the United Nations.
I am an Orthodox catechumen, so I am falling in love with Orthodoxy even more every day. I have two dogs, an 18-year-old Yorkie and a two-year-old Maltese.
Kitschy anything, but especially retro postcards. I string those up as garland in my living room
Unique buttons (both the pin back & the sew on kind :D)
Kawaii stationery
Languages other than English/ Nonroman script
Cute recipe cards
Coca-Cola memorabilia
Animals
Buddhas
Orthodox Icons (Or Catholic, my brother likes those)
Sailor Moon
Sarcastic things (like Anne Taintor or Blue Q)
Nazar or "Evil Eyes"
Hamsas, bonus points if they have the chai or nazar!
Things from Morocco & Thailand
Adventure Time
Green tea & herbal tea
Little local souvenirs from your hometown :) Even museum pamphlets or playbills from the high school play.
Literally everything. I have a rule that in order to be my friend, I have to be able to play my music on shuffle. I particularly love female musicians, and am currently in love with Nancy Ajram!
I love to read almost anything, except romance novels or superficial stories. My favorite fiction books are
More than anything I prefer nonfiction, especially books on linguistics, literally anywhere that's not Europe, feminism, and biographies. (I highly recommend The Radioactive Boyscout!)
KITSCHY/TOURISTY POSTCARDS!! The kind with big, tacky lettering or vintage prints.
AIRMAIL THEMED ANYTHING I decorate my apartment to look like an old explorer lives there, so I use airmail & postcard themed stuff as wall hangings & such :)
Fun, easy, and affordable recipes! I'm putting together a recipe box for when my best friend gets married. It's already handmade, but would love to include some recipes from all over to inspire her to continue to fill it up!
Send me broken jewelry instead of throwing it out! I love to upcycle new jewelry to give as gifts & reswap.
I am Native American, so please do not send me "Indian" themed anything unless it's authentic. I don't appreciate subtle racism. If you have any questions and are honestly curious, please feel free to ask!
Gore/demonic/satanic/pagan things. I enjoy creepy things, but I don't like like gratuitous negativity in any way. As for pagan things, while they are not inherently negative, my tribe is very suspicious of any religion that includes "dark" arts.
Sports related things. I won't have a use for them!
