I notice that many of my cards to the U.S.A. have gone MIA. Please tell me if I owe anyone postcards and I will gladly rectify the situation. Thank you in advance for your patience.
Dear fellow swappers and swap partners, Due to a long stretch of Eid holidays (a Muslim celebration), postcards sent from Malaysia may take a very long time. Some of my postcards were missent to Sri Lanka before reaching their final destinations.
That being said, I appreciate all feedbacks. And thank you for telling me that a postcard has not arrived. I do not mind resending.
Hi. My name is Dani and I am from Malaysia. I am an English language teacher and I live with my mother. She's a widow. I like reading and listening to audio recordings of fiction books and history. Music uplifts and soothes me, especially Bach and Mozart. The best time of the day is when I take my dog,Bella out for a walk. She is a small, black dog of indeterminate breed. She delights in sniffing around and looking for cats and squirrels to chase, though she usually fails in her endeavors.
I would love to receive postcards with the following themes:
-Moomin cards
-depicting Pre-Raphaelite art
-Impressionist art: Monet; Pissarro; Renoir; Manet, Mary Cassatt and etc
-art nouveau by Gustav Klimt, Alphonse Mucha
-colourful postcards
-animals: birds, butterflies, dragonflies, giraffes, sloths and etc
-cups of coffee or tea, fruit or vegetables grouped in colours, cupcakes, chocolate cake, jelly beans
-flowers: gerbera, daisies, poppies, daffodils
-illustrations from children's books: Alice in Wonderland, Paddington Bear, the original Winnie the Pooh
-anything to do with mailing or reading: mail boxes, books
-Art Nouvelles Images: they are really amazing
-tourist cards: beautiful scenery, people in traditional clothes, windmills, lighthouses, people going about their daily life (not so keen on multiview cards unless it's specific to the swap)
colours: deep turquoise, shades of blue, I love all colours except black.
-self-made cards made with creativity (a measure thereof), love and care. Something which you would like to receive from another person.... :)
Please tell me something about yourself and your favorite things. Write anything you like: a poem that appeals to you, a family recipe, a hobby that you enjoy, five things you are grateful for...the possibilities are endless.
I do collages for my handmade postcards. I am also trying my hand at making ATCs as well. At the moment, I am not confident enough to send them on any swaps yet. I do send them to my postcard pal and she said she likes them. So I am still practicing. I usually prepare the backgrounds well in advance by using bright water colours. Then I'll arrange craft paper, magazine cut outs, food packaging, anything that strikes my fancy and suits the theme, onto the card.
Amelie, Chocolat, When Harry met Sally, Shakespeare in Love, Black Adder, Mr Bean, You've Got Mail, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, The Green Mile, Fidler on the Roof, My Fair Lady
TV shows: Jeeves and Wooster, A little bit of Fry and Laurie, Criminal Minds, House MD
Adele, Amy Winehouse, Chopin, Bach, Mozart, Old Jazz, Eros Ramazotti, Sarah Brightman
Bible, The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith, books by Georgette Heyer, Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion, Sense and Sensibility, Jane Eyre, The Wind in the Willow by Kenneth Grahame, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, The Little Prince, books by Mary Balogh
Stickers
Writing paper
Notelets
Bracelets (handmade; beads with unusual designs: They make interesting conversation starters) "That is the happiest conversation where there is no competition, no vanity, but a calm quiet interchange of sentiments" [Samuel Johnson]
Anything with the following themes:
Anything that is remotely related to spiritism i.e. vampire, tarrot cards, horoscope, even cute fairies ...
Political
Religious (N.B. I am a Christian and following the custom of the first century Christians, I would prefer not to participate in or have anything related to religious festivals / celebrations. For example, Easter, Christmas, New Year, Valentine, Halloween and etc.) Please do NOT send any place of worship either i.e. Churches, temples, mosques and etc
Vintage postcards
Cards that are old and yellowing - there are others who appreciate such cards, but I really don't.
If I have signed up for a swap, I will definitely send the items promised. If I am late for any reason, I will notify my assigned partner/ partners. Due to an error on the part of the postal administration and the postcard / letter / package does not arrive, please tell me and I'll gladly resend them again. I will also do the same.
Here is an approximate timeline: Postcards sent to
U.S.A. : 26 - 30 days (3 months)
Australia: 14 - 20 days
Germany: 18 days
Please note that I send my postcards naked and stamped as postage for envies are a lot more expensive.
Very important: Also please send mine naked and stamped as well, as envelopes sent from the US usually do NOT turn up at all.
