Hello, I have not been on swap-bot for over 10 years and it just popped into my head the other day. So, I thought I would check it out again. I am glad to see it is still going strong. My favorites are a little old, but I am going to leave them and add to them later.
Hi Everyone, Thank you for all of your thoughts and well wishes. My kids and I are doing good. As you can see I have started swapping again. It actually was a really good thing. I can lose myself in my art and not dwell on things. Thanks again to everyone and Happy Swapping! : )
Hello Everyone, Well, it has been over a month without my true love. It has been hard, but I know I will see him again someday. Thank you all for the well wishes and prayers. Thank you also to those who angeled my swaps at the time. I have signed up for a swap to see how I feel about it. I just don't feel very creative, but I love to draw and the little monster swap looks fun. Thanks again to everyone. : )
I am writing to tell everyone, my dear husband, the love of my life is gone. He had a car accident yesterday, Monday aug. 29th. I have asked for the few swaps I am in to be angeled. I just can't do it. I don't know how I am going to go on without him. he was my soul mate. My heart is broken in pieces. : (
Update: June 22, 2011 - Hi Everyone! I want to thank everyone for their well wishes for my husband. They were greatly appreciated. : ) He is doing very well. He is going to be on medicine probably for the rest of his life, but he is here and that is what is most important. : ) Thanks again. : )
UPDATE: May 12,2011 - Hi everyone, I just want to let my partners know that I have been distracted this week. My husband had a heart attack last weekend and I have been running to the hospital. He is okay, Thank God! I will never flake on anyone, I just might be a little late in sending this week. Thank you for your patience. : )
I am a middle school art teacher. I am married to a wonderful patient man and I have two wonderful children and four dogs, who are just like kids too. My husband is also an art teacher, so we have lots to talk about, and he likes to go to the craft store too! yay!!
I love to knit, crochet, paint, make cards (rubberstamped) and read. I am always looking for new and interesting things to do with my students, which also gets me excited to do my own work.
My all time favorite music is Yanni, I saw him 4 times in concert. His music is wonderful. I love to listen to it when I am making something, it really sparks my creativity. Classical music is also a favorite when working on a project, I like to play classical for my students too. I like many other kinds of music too, Fleetwood Mac, Evanesence, Daughtry, Moody Blues, Indigo Girls, Nickelback and many more.
I love to read as I said before, I have to say that I am really influenced at the moment by my students. They show me what they are reading and say "You should read this, it is really good!" So, I have read all the Twilight novels and I am currently reading the 4th book. I love Harry Potter and fantasy novels. I love anything with fairies, elves, dragons and that kind of suff. I love faeries so much that I got a tattoo of one on my leg. My favorite fairy artist is Amy Brown, I have her ballerina fairy on my leg with a frog( who represents my husband, my prince charming) and two little foot prints (one for each of my children).
I also have an addiction to magazines, I have sooo many, but I love to look at them and get ideas. I read artist's magazine, Fairy magazine, knitting magazines, Mary Englebreights magazine and I love Cloth Paper Scissors magazine.
One of my favorite things to do is go to the bookstore with my daughter and look at books and mags and have a coffee. I really like the flavored coffees. My daughter likes the frozen chocolate drinks, and we always share a cupckake.
I also love fairy tales. My favorite it Cindrella, we should all find our prince. : ) I like all of the Disney interpretations too. My other favorites are Beauty and the Beast, Hansel and Gretel, Rapunzel, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Peter and the Wolf ( I love the animated version from public broadcasting. The music is awesome too.)
My favorite movie is Moonstruck. I married into an Italian family, his mother used to say "Get me the big knife!" from the movie. We quote this movie often in our house. I also love the Harry Potter movies. Indiana Jones, James Bond ( my husband loves these too) and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Well, I love all Tim Burton movies. I took my daughter to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D, It was awesome!!!!! Loved it!!!!
I watch alot of craft related shows like Knitty Gritty and Uncommon Threads. I also like to watch British Comedies and the Bravo channel, which has Project Runway, Top Chef, Top Design and all that stuff.
I love to knit and crochet. I have a huge stash of yarn. I don't think my husband realizes how much yarn I really have. I have made paintings with acrylic and yarn. I have a huge collection of rubberstamps, my husband made a set of wall shelves to store them, it is filled almost 3 deep. I like to try new things, so I have a room full of stuff to play with. I am trying to get some scrapbooking started and finished. I have tons of pics of my kids, but only one book started. I like all kinds of things to play with in my artwork: gel pens, stickers, markers, beads, scrapbook paper (I like pinks, purples and greens), etc.
Okay, I have to add that I am now hooked on dotees! I love them! I just bought a bunch of fabric and beads to make more. Yay!
I love to make zentangles!!! They are so relaxing. I have my students do them too and they love them! One project I do with them is a zentangled hand. they really like it and they all do a great job!
I am loving making stuffies!!!! I have them all over the house. I like to sew them and make the crocheted amigurumi too.
I have always loved butterflies, but now since my husband died they have a special meaning. I saw a butterfly flying around my car when I went back to work and there are never any around there. I found out that butterflies are messengers from heaven, they take souls to heaven and bring back love to those left behind. I know that butterfly was my Louie. I have seen so many since he died. I even had one try to fly into my car (at work) when I had to have someone jump my car after I left my lights on all day. That one was my husband laughing at me for being so dumb. : ) My kids and I were driving one day and a butterfly floated up and over the hood, right up the windshield. My kids were like, that was daddy!! I even have a butterfly tattoo on my wrist in memory of my dear husband. I have butterflies hanging in my kitchen, that is were he was all the time, he was a good cook. : )
My favorite color is pink, but I love all kinds of colors and combinations. I love to see complementary combinatons like greens and pinks and blues and oranges. I also like varigated colors. I like to get varigated yarns for many of my knitting projects.
I love to burn candles in my home, my favorite scents are ones with cinnamon and flower scents.
I collect so many things, I really like:
teddy bears, fairies, butterflies, frogs(cute ones), dogs and anything small and cute, I think the term for swap-bot is kuwaii(spelling?).
I do have a small allergy to wool. Certain wools make me feel like someone is poking my eyes with needles, Yuk!
I am really interested in altered art, it is interesting to see what people do with stuff we see everyday, so I collect all different kinds of papers, ribbons, buttons and things to use in my artwork.
I have four dogs. : ) Yeah! 4! Three tiny ones (Minnie - chihuahua/minature pinscher mix, Hammy - long haired chihuahua, and Gus - yorkshire terrier) and one medium (Doby - rescue from the pound- border collie/doberman mix).
My little Yorkie's name is Octavius, yeah, wierd right?! but he is named after the little mouse in Disney's Cinderella. She named the little fat one Octavius, but called him Gus for short. So my yorkie is called Gus. Big name little dog. : ) Minnie is after Minnie Mouse, my daughter wanted to call her Ariel when she was little, but I just couldn't call a dog Ariel. Hammy is named after the crazy squirrel in the animated film Over the hedge and believe me he is crazy! Doby is named after the little house elf in Harry Potter. Okay, I know what you are thinking! She watches too much t.v., but I have a Bachelor's degree in animation and I just love character design. : )

I am really into Zentangles, I am working on pieces that are a combination of pen and ink zentangles with watercolor.
My fairy is called Tangle Elfwand. She is a cheerful sprite. She lives at the bottom of tangled gardens and in hedgerows. She is only seen when the seer holds a four-leafed clover. She wears tangled dresses of multicoloured petals. She has delicate green wings like a cicada.Get your free fairy name here! http://www.emmadavies.net/fairy/default.aspx This is a cool site! : )
