I'm a Michigan artist who has been drawing and painting since I could crush rocks to make my own paint and found leaves made prints in mud. I especially enjoy painting miniature art, and sell my ACEO on eBay and other venues. My primary income comes from my art, but I also do a bit of freelance writing.
Dead Can Dance, Feist, PJ Harvey, The Swans, Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, The Lilac Time, Thelonius Monk, Butthole Surfers, Nickleback, This Mortal Coil, Nina Simone, The Clash, The Cure, The Church, The Killers...only thing I really dislike is traditional country.
Bukowski, Classic Literature, Psychological Thrillers, the Goosebumps kids series (I pre-read them for my kids) medical and law thrillers, and I am a constant purveyor of textbook knowledge in a wide array of disciplines. I'm a reading geek - I read Webster's Dictionary front to back in ninth grade and kept the fascination with language and words.
Closetland, A Clockwork Orange, The Fountain, Stargate, BladeRunner, The Cell, National Treasure, Vanilla Sky...visually stunning dramas.
I honestly have little time to watch television. If I did, I would watch these. I enjoy the current medical dramas, CSI, anything having to do with the science of being human that also deals with the emotional trials and triumphs we can face. Stargate, and the new Galactica and just about anything sci-fi.
Painting, jewelry, polymer clay, illustration, crafts with my kids, ACEO, ATC, postcard art, sewing, quilting. I like to dabble, but always end up going back to my pen and ink. I enjoy collage from others, but lack the creative genius to execute it well myself.
I have a deep appreciation of the natural world, and am currently studying Buddhism - I follow a world religion path taking bits and pieces of the twisted hairs of knowledge and creating my own personal mythos. I really love goddess imagery, and peaceful, centered art. I'm an avid gardener of vegetables, flowers and herbs.
I'm a single mom, and my boys are my true love in life. We live backed up to woods and our family "pets" are the animals that run free in our back yard including deer, rabbit, turkey and all matter of creature. I think we feed most of the birds in the Midwest.
My friends call me a tree hugger, and granola girl often. I recycle, and try to leave a light footprint on the world while still consciously making my mark.
We have severe asthma and allergies to smoke in the home. Also to pet dander. Blue Dye #2(known as indigo carmine) and Red Dye #40. Anything peaches or grapefruit (fruit or scent). No Patchouli please, or strong pine or cinnamon scents.
I personally dislike pink, pastels, and foofy glittery things. I am not a girly girl and rarely wear cosmetics although occassionally will splash on a dab of Burt's Bees lipstick/gloss.
Crystals, lavender scented items and oil, essential oil. Things dealing with nature, goddess imagery, buddhism, pentagrams, herbalism, ambient, gothic and industrial music. My favorite color is shades of brown, and I love turquoise (the color and the stone). Greens, blues, purples and a rich orange are nice too. I like haiku and most things Asian. I like candles and sandalwood incense and oil. Something that gave you an "aha" eureka moment and made you change your views on the world is always a precious gift.
