My name's Rory. I'm 27 and studying Accounting here in Central Oklahoma, counting the days until December, when I can finally make my way back to the west coast!
Swapping's one of my favorite things in life (besides cinnamon toast and Hugh Laurie!) and I've participated a lot in the past at places like Nervousness.org and Flickr and Livejournal groups -- and I'm thrilled to finally have found this place!
Everything I send comes from a smoke-free and (sadly) pet-free home. However, no big deal if you smoke or have pets. I have no allergies. ;)
Anything by or about the beat generation, most anything by Chuck Palahniuk, Christopher Hitchens, Stephen King, or Charles Bukowski, comic books, modern poetry, & tons of zines. I also enjoy Christopher Moore, Amy Hempel, and lots of plays and short stories. Of course, I spend a lot of time reading Accounting textbooks....
Stand By Me, Fight Club, Dead Poets Society, Before Sunrise & Before Sunset, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Croupier, Hackers, Much Ado About Nothing, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Bottle Rocket, Go, The Hudsucker Proxy, Jesus' Son, The Misfits, American Psycho, The Philadelphia Story, My Life Without Me, 28 Days Later, The Professional, Garden State, the Final Destination flicks, War Games, Halloween, Scream & bunches of other horror flicks
On the air: House, Lost, So You Think You Can Dance, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Criminal Minds, Project Runway, Rescue Me, Heroes, The Riches, Good Eats, Globetrekker, America's Test Kitchen, Criminal Minds, Dexter, The Office, Family Guy....
Off the air: Alias, Dead Like Me, Arrested Development, Death Note, Scrubs, Buffy, Angel, Veronica Mars
I find TV to be great entertainment while crafting, because it's wall-to-wall sound so I don't have to look up too often. :)
I'm reeeeally looking forward to Joss Whedon's new show, "Dollhouse," this fall!
& some comedians I love: Eddie Izzard, Denis Leary, Doug Stanhope, Kathy Griffin
Crochet, jewelry-making, zines, papercrafts including ATCs, handmade books, postcards, greeting cards & envies and (some) journaling, photography, painting (acrylics, gouache), baking. I like to experiment with a little of everything!
Muse, The White Stripes, The Dandy Warhols, Modest Mouse, Timbaland, Portishead, The Shins, Elliott Smith, Iron & Wine, Manu Chao, The Pixies, Death Cab, A.C. Newman, The Magnetic Fields, Evanescence, Ani DiFranco, Pink, Sia, The 6ths, The Postal Service, Ludacris. Tons more.
My favorite song is "Heart of the Sunrise" by Yes.
I also love a lot of foreign pop, instrumental music, scores and soundtracks. I love to hear new music -- if you have any recommendations for me based upon these interests, let's do a mix CD swap!
Turquoise!, black & white patterns, grey, red, lime or apple green... and strange color combos. Maybe not neon.
Anything themed around birds, leaves, drawings & comics, letters, the beach, road trips, numbers, or flowers. Modern poetry, photographs, puzzles (especially Sudoku, related types), zines, interesting stationery, yarn, dried pineapple, & black tea (my favorite is Prince of Wales and I have a hard time finding it around here).
I love things that are personalized with my name, the letter R, or my other interests! I try hard to incorporate aspects of other swappers' profile information into the pieces I make for them (or extra goodies I send), and always really appreciate it when someone does the same for me. :D
For international swappers: I will fall over with joy if you send wine gums or Freddo Frogs (the kind with fillings inside)! They don't exist around here!
A few more ideas if you need them: I would love to receive anything Death Note related (!), a needlebook for my crochet hooks, your zine!, a wristcuff or wristwarmers, interesting postcards, crochet magazines, and any of the zines or Etsy goodies listed in my Wists. :D I would also like to get into Bento but don't have any supplies yet.
Incense, anything coffee-flavored, super spicy, overtly religious in nature, or spider-related. I'm not into super-cutesy stuff, though I do like the San-X Sweet Face stuff (especially the Chick!), and I love the really obscure and strange Japanese stationery creations -- especially happy foods. :D
