I spend far to much time cooking things, baking things, making things, reading things, writing things, web surfing things embroidering things, beading things, sewing things and loving things.
I'm asthmatic and cigarette smoke is a trigger to my attacks. Usually, something has to smell REALLY heavily of smok.
I'm 30 years-old and married. We share our home with six, wonderful cats, three calicoes, one silver tabby, one brown tabby and a long haired grey. I'm lucky enough to get to be a stay at home wife which allows me to help my sister-in-law with child care, which is a--MAY--zing since we have no children of our own.
I really love anything crafty and will try just about anything once. I also tend to collect crafts the way some people collect thimbles. Though I do collect Asian Ball Joint Dolls in addition to crafts.
I like most kinds of needlework, which I fell into for Renaissance costume embellishment. I'm teaching myself tambour embroidery and lacework.
I like to crochet and usually focus on small projects, amigurumi and baby blankets, especially granny square blankets. I occasionally do an adult sized afghan, but I almost never crochet clothing.
I love to travel with my husband and try to take a big trip each year as well as several trips to closer Renaissance faires.
I like to try about any craft once, though they don't all latch on. I'm only now trying to teach myself knitting again. Previous attempts have failed and badly.
I love geek crafts, anything pixel related is especially awesome. 8 to 32 bit characters lend themself really well to cross stitch.
I love all animals except spiders.. Please, please, please nothing with spiders.. They give me the willies. I'm actually a real arachnaphobe. But I'm most partial to cats and horses. I visit Daily Squee, well, daily.
I love to read and have a kindle. I also love music and have an iPod classic. The only reason I mention those specifically is because I was part of a craft swap last year and made somebody else who mentioned they had a kindle an embroidered Kindle cover.
I'm sure I'll add more to this.
I embroider (cross stich, doodle needlepointe, blackwork, tambour). I crochet (blankets, plushies, amigurumi). I scrapbook (usually 12x12). I make costumes (Renaissance, Tudor). I spin (drop spindle). I make jewelry. I'm teaching myself to knit.
Tori Amos, Iron & Wine, OK Go, Jewel, Joan Baez, Lady GaGa (sure, why not?). I love all music.
Fantasy: The Dragons of Pern series. Historical fiction: Innocent Traitor: A Novel of Lady Jane Grey. Modern Fantasy: The Dresden Novels.
I enjoy Anne and Todd McCaffrey, Jim Butcher, Jean Plaidy, Tamora Pierce and so many others.
I read a LOT of Manga, mostly Shoujo.
Anime: Fruits Basket; Chobits; Trinity Blood;
Procedural dramas like CSI and Law and Order. Joss Whedon's work. Star Trek, excepting Enterprise. Mad Men. Rubicon. I loved West Wing.
Star Trek, any of them. All Katharine Hepburn's movies.
Favourite Colours: Purple and Green
Favourite Animals: Cats
Favourite Historical Periods: Tudor and Elizabethan
Postcards; I prefer stamped and written, so I can save the shared experience of the swap
ABJDs (Asian Ball Joint Dolls)
Maneki Nekos (Asian good luck cats)
Manga
Crafting Books
With spiders or other arachnids like centipedes or scorpions. I'm severely arachnophobic. Even writing that sentence gave me the heebie jeebies.
Nothing religious unless it's part of the actual content of the swap, please.
Thank you!

Thank you so much for the link to the robot matryoshkas. They are awesome. It has got me thinking I could do a robot set and maybe a steampunk set would be fun too. I love owls too, they would look great as owls too. Thanks again. Cheers Helen
