I am an NPR junkie, a Scrabble addict, and a sewing-machine-worshipping fool. I love writing thank you notes, and I think it's a lost art. I have great line karma. I am hooked on spy fiction and travel literature. I generally fall into the bleeding heart liberal category, which is precisely how I landed in my present profession: the ever-so-glamorous field of social work. I love it and I hate it, feel inspired by it and trapped by it, all at the same time. I'm currently in graduate school working on my MSW. I married my high school crush and we have too many cats and dogs (though I am periodically tempted by a cuddly stray!). I am habitually late to work, mostly due to impromptu American Bandstand moments that spring up in the middle of blow drying my hair. I love hosting dinner parties and entertaining my friends. I have an awesome herb garden that is currently growing a mystery vegetable vine (oopsie...a random accidental seed in my compost bin?)I have a banjo that I'm determined to learn to play one of these days...
I've been going through a Hitchcock phase lately. Dial M for Murder, Rear Window, North by Northwest, Notorious are more recent faves. All time faves: Goonies, Singles, anything with Gene Kelly, The Philadelphia Story, Charade, the Family Stone, Adams Family Values, PeeWee's Big Adventure, ALL of the Muppets movies, Empire Records, Point of No Return, Black Sheep, Tommy Boy, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore
SportsCenter (morning ritual), Heroes (so addicted), Lost (not as good as it used to be, but I'm loyal), Supernatural (guilty pleasure), Food Network (oddly therapeutic, and I love Dave Lieberman), X-Files reruns
Ella Fitzgerald (gosh do I love her; My Ella Sings the Cole Porter Songbook record feels like a sweepstakes prize), the Be Good Tanyas, the New Pornagraphers, Willie Nelson, Ani DiFranco, Sarah Harmer, Le Tigre, Orange Juice, the Shins, Belle and Sebastian, Rogue Wave, Ray LaMontagne, Sleater-Kinney, Ben Harper,Bob Marley, Nina Simone, Dave Brubeck If I were ever in a cover band, the three songs I'd most definitely cover are Bus Stop by the Hollies, Suck You Dry by Mudhoney and Let My Love Open the Door by Pete Townshend. I'd like to shrink Paul Simon down to palm-size and carry him in my pocket for good luck. I've managed to overcome my crush on Jeff Tweedy's voice, but I still love the Be Good Tanyas so much that it borders illegal. Of course that's a slight exaggeration, but I do love them. I do.
I love anything that allows me to use my sewing machine. I love my sewing machine to bits. It's taken a bit of a beating from me over the years. I love going to the fabric store, and sometimes make a point to search one out when I'm traveling to new places. I've reconstructed/embellished clothing, made handbags and aprons (and sold some at a craft fair last year--yay!), and sewn greeting cards. I love collages and making my own greeting cards for friends. I would love to make a quilt one day, but just don't have the time or committment right now. My craft room is a comfortable mess.

Hope you feel better, love. Thinking of you...xoxo
You have a great profile. I too love NPR, dinner parties, "Bus Stop," thank-you notes, and the New Pornographers -- especially "All for Swinging You Around," one of my impromptu singing favorites. Happy summer!
Had fun reading your profile... Nice start to the day, with a laugh or two. ;)
