I have been an avid seamstress since the age of 4. The first thing I ever made on my own was a patchwork quilt that I designed my own pattern for at the age of six. Right now I am assembling a recycled thrift store felted cashmere sweater quilt. I cannot wait to curl up under it!!
Now I do just about anything crafty. I love to knit socks and scarves. OK, I love to knit anything EXCEPT big blankets that take forever and sweaters with too many seams...
I also dabble in scrapbooking and art journaling.
My kids' teachers know me as the go-to for "anything craft supplies" because I think I could start my own store...buttons, ribbons, fabric, yarn.
I tend to read things related to my profession. I am an ICU nurse.
I love craft/knitting/sewing magazines and books for light reading. My favorite book right now is "Sewing Green" by Betz White.
I am in my mid-thirties with 3 children. Two girls, then my youngest is a boy. They are 16, 11 & 10.
I also work full time in the Medical Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit at a community hospital in my city. I have been an RN for over 14 years, most of which has been in critical care. (Dabbled for a bit in management...sheesh! That's for the birds!)
I have 2 dogs and a cat. While they do not sew or knit, they do like to include a momento of their presence now and again, so please understand, I am not always able to control the occassional pet hair...
Want: Canned Foods; Frozen PIZZA!!; Laundry stuff; Any sugary cereal...(3 kids...); Fruit snacks and lunch-size snacks Frozen Food; Tyson's meats; Any Coffee (Keurig K-cups) Cleaners; Iam's Pet food (cat and dog); Paper Products; GLUTEN FREE ANYTHING!
DO NOT WANT: Diapers or Baby stuff; Diabetic Supplies
I tend to gravitate to pinks and reds... but lately I am also enjoying orange.
My favorite fabric combination is teal/aqua and red. Just stunning!
I love Feed Sack Fabric and am trying to enlarge my collection of 1930's reproduction fabrics.
Chevron Fabrics! Love, Love, Love!!
I am NOT a fan of Civil War reproduction fabrics or anything similar.
I am completely in love with cutsy-babyish Owls. Think Woodsy. Give a Hoot-Don't Polute!
I love linens and fabric of just about any kind, except not really a fan of synthetics. I have a rather large collection of quilting fabrics. But I also collect wool or cashmere thrift store sweaters to either unravel and reuse the yarn or to felt and cut up into other items.
My favorite thing to make usually involves some kind of pouch, purse, totebag or fabric-organizer-thingy. I like to transform old things into something new and different and then be able to say "Yeah, I really did make that!"
I would like to make another "I Spy" quilt with candies and cookies, or a "Jar" quilt with fruits. I have a few cute patterns that are just waiting for the right time and the perfect fabric.
I am "re-resolving" to make a Dear Jane Quilt in 2013 (ok, maybe 2014). I am planning to do the rainbow theme. Anyone have a good way to 'plan' the rainbow theme? I have the block patterns already.
I have been totally 'turned-on' by Zakka Style and Doodle Stitching! If you are confused, look them up! What a wonderful way to "waste time" (not that I have ANY time to waste...just the occassional spare hand...). I have been scouring flea markets, thrift stores and antique shops for vintage linens to embroider. Makes me feel "connected"!

If you only could send any pocket journal of art journal you have. The journals belong to someone; please send those journals to the next person or to the owner. THank you!
Since you are PARTIALLY SUSPENDED you have been removed from the LLL & AQ Groups... & you have not responded to any of my communications about the AQ Group Mug Rug WTA you owe for Sept. to nanette. You still owe her a MUG RUG just as if you owed her a swap!
You've been removed from the Ziplock Group. Once you've fixed your bad ratings, you can reapply by PMing me.
Hello AQ WTA Participant!!!!! I am so glad you did participate in the AUGUST WTA GAME but your mug rug hasn't been received yet! Will you please go in the group and post in this WTA Thread when you send/sent your Mug Rug to nanette. I also asked her to post there when & what she receives! Thanx for your help in making this a great group. Sept WTA is up too & swaps ;-) Blessings, cc
I just received this email from @aleshapie .....Thank you for contacting me! I had sent an email a while back to all of my swap partners that I was going to be late, and to please understand. I had significant, unexpected, neck surgery on Aug 20th. I have just gotten to a point that I can actually sit at my machine and have picked out a very cool fabric that I am super excited to make her. Please forward this to her and let her know I plan to include extras for her patience. I hope I dont get a bunch of bad ratings as a result of this. :(
Winner Takes All! Everyone puts their name in and I draw a winner, that winner gets something from everyone that has signed up. Every WTA is different. This one is for a mug rug. So the winner gets a handmade mug rug from everyone that has signed up! I hope that helps.....Kelly :)
