I was born in Dublin, and have lived in Ireland and Scotland. I love sending letters and hope to connect with some penpals by using this site.
I enjoy reading and writing, especially writing and reading poetry. Literature and writing are very important to me and I spend a lot of time reading. I'm also really interested in art, and I like going to art galleries in my spare time. Degas, Goya, Schiele, Rembrandt and Hokusai are some of my favourite artists.
I will be studying veterinary nursing in Edinburgh starting this September (2011). I volunteered in an aniaml shelter full time for two years, and I love animals. I have a pet ferret called Sukey who I adopted a year ago and three beautiful cats. Obviously, animal welfare is very important to me too!
As you can see from the TV programmes I have listed, I'm a pretty big geek. I've watched sci-fi for years, and I've recently started to get into anime and manga. I'm quite a shy person and have spent the last few years either working or at home trying to read or write.
I have had some mental health problems, such as depression, and am gradually getting better from them. I had to drop out of university because of them in 2009, where I was studying classics. I've decided I would rather work with animals, so I'm looking forward to my new course.
I'm always interested to here from new people and to learn about different perspectives or places. A few more details: I am in my early twenties and female, I am gay, I do not practice any religion, I try to face every day with courage.

I like stickers, soft toys, yarn and badges. I really enjoy children's books. I like animals a lot, and dinosaurs are great too. I have a particular soft-spot for small mammals like guinea pigs, hamsters and rabbits, and I also really like cats and ferrets, though it's very rare for me to meet an animal I don't like. I really enjoy cooking and love trying foods from all over the world. I also generally like anything that 6-year-olds like.
I like lots of different colours: I mainly wear black, pink, grey, red and purple, but I also like most colours in other contexts. My bedroom is currently yellow. I'm not very fond of blue. I like leopard print a lot, probably influenced by my favourite band, Manic Street Preachers.
I love knitting, especially with lace-weight yarn, and have been trying to knit lots of different lace patterns recently.
