I'm 43 yrs old and blessed with a wonderful husband of 13+ years and the best 13 yr. old boy anyone could ever want. I live in a beautiful city in Newfoundland, Canada where I have been designing, building, and teaching costumes in a university theatre dept. since 1989. I volunteer for a number of organizations and believe that everyone has something to offer. I particularly enjoy working with children and have taught children's sewing and craft courses in the past(hopefully I can do it again sometime soon). I'm hoping to start a "Project Linus" chapter in my area this fall.
I am fascinated by fairies, turtles, frogs and just about anything vintage.
My favorite colours are blue, green, pink and silver.
I enjoy most scents but I prefer softer ones like vanilla, as stronger smells sometimes make me sick, especially strong floral scents.
I collect: turtles, thimbles, dolls, fairies and interesting sewing stuff.
I have more crafting supplies in my basement than alot of craft stores, I'm a pack-rat and a sucker for the clearance shelf in the craft department.
I love swap-bot for getting me off my butt and using it.
I have very ecclectic tastes in music. I enjoy: Accapella groups, Contemporary Christian, Broadway/Show musicals(especially fun and upbeat shows), Nickelback, Contemporary Country and good Folk music etc.. I"m not fond of Rap, Heavy Metal, most Opera and classical music.
I mostly enjoy Action, Thrillers(not horror)and Fun movies. Some Of my favourite movies are: Labyrinth, Narnia(the new one), The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, The Dark Crystal, The Harry Potter series, My Cousin Vinny, most of the Pixar animated movies and the Pirates of the Carribbean series
I really like to watch; Ghost whisperer, Jericho, Criminal Minds, CSI, and Law and Order SVU. When I have the time, I also watch; House, Grey's Anatomy, and Mythbusters( my son's favorite)
I love to learn new arts and crafts, so my favourites change frequently, if indeed I have any. I enjoy paper folding and construction, millinery(hatmaking and decoration), doll and toy making, recycled and children's crafts, and lately I have been very interested in puppet building and fabric collage. If I see it, I will try it. That reminds me I have a bobbin lace kit downstairs should try that soon.
My husband Mike is a radio announcer, who sings(beautifully) and acts in his spare time, he's a big fan of the Simpsons, CSI the original, HBO's Sopranos, and Broadway shows. He likes vanilla and orange. His favorite authors are: Anne Tyler, and Shakespeare. He volunteers for a number of non-profit organizations especially those that help children. We have been together for 18+ wonderful years and married for 13+ years. We have a fabulous 13 yr. son who is our pride and joy.
Matthew like his father is also an accomplished singer/musician(piano and trumpet) and actor. He celebrated his 13th birthday in early September. His favorite colour is blue and his favorite flavours are vanilla and berries. He's into; theatre, reading and writing, photography, skiing, soccer, tennis, swimming, dragons and Star Wars. He is an avid reader and his favorite authors are: J.K. Rowling, Cornelia Funke, Lemony Snicket, Phillip Pullman and Christopher Paolini. His favourite music is: classical, classic rock 50's thru 90's(his words), Broadway musicals, contempary christian and some rock. He enjoys learning about history and different cultures and loves getting mail.
These are some things I would love to have: • Anything fairy, or turtle, • Needle felting supplies- I want to try it, • Anything regional- your region of course, • Anything for my son, • Interesting fabric, • Interesting beads, • Copies of Japanese stuffie patterns, • Candy/treats from dif. countries, • Any vintage sewing notions, • Interesting sewing gagets, • Yummy appetizer recipes, • Old costume jewelry • Handmade items –I love them, • Vintage paper, cards or photographs, • Thimbles, • Anything origami, paper, diagrams etc., • Santa ornaments, and/or • Dif or regional nativities. That’s all I can think of right now, hope that helps.
