The giant snapping turtle is an interesting one as well - hadn't heard of that one. I discovered my mom's hometown of Dowagiac, MI, had a cryptid - the Frogman of Sister Lakes - recently too, so I suppose there's always lots to learn in cryptid land! :)

I wasn't sure if you followed any of the Yule/Christmas spider belief systems, but since you mentioned you like most creatures, you wouldn't be offended by a spider. I've always loved the symbolism of spider... creativity, feminism, etc...especially since female power is strong with spiders, as the female raises the babies!

I actually haven’t gotten to that part of Go Tell the Bees... I go through spirts of reading Gabaldon, it then suddenly put it down and can’t bring myself to pick it back up. I do remember it’s NOT about Brianna, although she and Roger have returned to that time with both kids and are safe... it’s one of the young girls who lives on the mountain with her family.
