I am a 66 year old stay at home mom and grandma, ("Va" to my grandkids). Yipee, I will now get to collect social security......All those years of work long ago are going to start paying me back.....LOL. I have a strong craft background, loved doing them all my life for as far back as my memory takes me. I'm a jabberbox.........Amen to that. Just ask anyone who knows me.....LOL I live on a farm and have for 34 years. Before that I was raised in Oakland, Ca. I married the boy next store, well he actually lived across the street. We have a 34 year old son and a 36 year old daughter ( she is the one on the right in the swap-bot picture above). My daughter and her family put a modular on our property, so they are about 150 feet away.
I LIKE TO Do: Card making is my passion right now & has been for the past several months. I also like Sewing, Garden planning,Quilting, Hand Embroidering, Stained Glass, Beading, Scrapbooking, Crocheting, Making Aprons, making garden Art, Mosaic tile & glass. Flower pot art. Learning new crafty things.I sit in my recliner with my knees up & watch alot of TV while I do my hand crafting. I have a large sewing/quilting/craft room in the barn that my husband built for me a few years back. It has all the creature comforts & my friends & I have spent many many many hours out there. It has become a catch all storage area while not in use.
I COLLECT: Outdoor for real use Bird Houses, Tea Cups and Saucers, old & specialty Buttons (by the millions), Fabric.I love worms 2&1/2" strips & charms 5" squares for scrap quilting, How to Books, Sewing Machines (I have 35 at least), old aprons, thimbles. I have enough fabric & sewing machines for more than my lifetime so I have stopped collecting those.
I LOVE: My family , home & friends. I have always had a soft spot for old people & old things. Probably because my grandmother was a light in my life & even after many years with her gone I still miss her. She started me on many of my sewing & crafting loves when I was a small child at her side I am sure pestering the heck out of her. Now, my own grand daughter Olivia is 11 & just ready to start 7th grade & I get to see her daily. She has a 3 year old brother that spends a lot of time "playing with me" He loves my card making room & cuts & punches paper right along with me......LOL. I love plants & belong to 3 garden clubs & am always trading plants with other members. Quiet Time for reading or crafting, I like to cook & eat & it shows. I love flavored Coffee (No Chocolate),Calorie free drinks (Crystal light, etc. Actually Wal Mart's Great Value brand is cheaper & tastes better to me), Critters like birds, frogs, toads, butterflies, lizards, ladybugs etc. Garden Art ( not too cutesy)
I am a pretty traditional gal who happens to enjoy people & married a very quiet man who enjoys time away from crowds. Crowds being anymore than 2 people unless it's his wife & kids........LOL. Our Sunday afternoons are spent having dinner together with our family & a few extras almost anytime. We "catch up"on the chatter.
NEW THINGS: My yard is a certified wildlife habitat. I had a new titanium knee put in 4 years ago. I am still adjusting to that. Almost everyday brings an opportunity to get jazzed over something new to do. I can't possibly live long enough to do everything I think I want to try....LOL
My favorite color is GREEN but love fall & nature colors except for orange, not too hot on it. I usually like medium to deep colors not pastels & NO white. I live in the country with well water which is extremely hard & lotsa dirt so NOTHING stays white. THINGS I LOVE FROM THRIFT SHOPS & YARD SALES: Tea cups & saucers to use or make into bird feeders, old buttons, glass beads (old glass or stone jewelry to take apart), wool sweaters to felt, candlesticks to make into pincushions or cake plates, small doilies to use in crafts, crocheted or tatted trims for crafts, old sewing notions DISLIKES or things I don't care to get... Housework!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate housework. I could be doing something fun & productive feeling instead and rude people. Since I hate housework I need NOT to have little nic nac things that sit around just for pretty. I prefer things I actually can use. I am always busy doing something.
Smiles & kind words are so easy & don't cost a cent. What is the harm? I can't understand people that use their energy to cause harm by doing and saying unkind things.
