UPDATE, Friday, May 11, 2007: My mother died this morning after a very rough final month of end-stage lung cancer. I will be away from Las Vegas for at least another week for her funeral and attempting to get some of her affairs in order. I thank everyone once again for their patience. These swaps mean quite a lot to me and I will fulfil all of my obligations, but, as you can imagine, my family has to be my #1 priority right now.--JDL.
age 35, single, childfree, 4 cats. I have a rather conservative "day job" into which I try to infiltrate as much indie style as possible. In my other life, I am working on a novel, have many international pen pals, and enjoy traveling wherever and whenever possible. (The first place I visit in any new country: the snack food aisle of the nearest grocery store.) Favorite colors: green, brown, pink, aqua, red, and gold. Random loves: housedresses, pre-computerized typography, "McSweeney's," sub-Saharan African crafts/food/music, caffeinated beverages, great big old colored glass decorative bottles, flowers, Mary Janes and other closed-toe shoes.
indie rock; '60s-'70s international dance pop; techno; '60s-'70s funky detective movie scores; maudlin '80s slow-dance music; really almost anything except opera.
subtitled ones! old digitized/compiled 16-millimeter educational films! James Bond movies starring Sean Connery! the David Lynch oeuvre! "Bull Durham"!
"24" and "Lost." that's it. I still have the same 12-inch TV set I had as an undergraduate in 1987 and it lives in the back bedroom along with a subfunctional VCR of the same era. From a more historical standpoint, anything starring Robert Wagner is probably a sure hit, as are Game Show Network reruns of "The Match Game."
paper crafts, sewing, knitting. I am giddy about recycled/upcycled/repurposed items, particularly when they are of actual utility to be written in/on or worn. Otherwise, my aesthetic preference leans heavily towards the mod/jet-set-high-fashion look, with occasional diversions into kawaii, and a rather pronounced distaste for the whole Somerset/Zettiology big-eyed-Victorian-ladies-with-tape-measures-coming-out-of-their-heads look.

I was so sorry to hear about your mum, I thank you for sending the "tea for two", I loved the choices though my hubby swiped them before I got to try them!!!
You may want to follow up on marking the swaps sent tho, the tea swap still shows you as a "no send"
My best to you, I hope the days to come are brighter ones!
Thank you so much for the lovely letter that you take the time to write. YOu did included so great things for me and my daughter. Take care of you and your family. I do know what it is to live far away and lost someone. I did lost my father two years ago and when I got there (after a 12 hours car drive) my father had passed away 20 minutes before... so I do understand a lot....
My condolences on the loss of your mother. I went thru the very same thing almost exactly 20 years ago. It's unfortunate that some people are not waiting to rate you positively...
Condolences on the loss of your mom! (((((HUGS))))
I am sorry to hear about your mom. Your family is number one at this moment. Send the swap when you are able to.
Take care of yourself first. I'm sure folks will understand.
