Comment: I'm not surprised there are haunted locations around Germany - the country is just so old, it's seen so much history! Hospital sites seem to draw a lot of hauntings, too. It's like that here as well. I'd rather hang out in a cemetery. :) Thanks for sharing! (And I love the cat stationery!)
Response: Yes, when I have to decide between the cemetery and the hospital sites, I would choose the first option as well. - In my city we have a cemetery, were people live right next to it, with just a small border between, not even high enough until the knee and when I went there one time, the "neighbours" just had a barbecue. This felt strange.

For your letter, I have to admit that I'm struggling to read your writing so I'm not sure if I got the question well ! But, I used to work a desk job, assistant manager whatever, it was boring as hell and I couldn't bear doing that forever, so I tried to think about what I could do instead and came to the realization that I needed to go in the medical field because I love being useful, running everywhere and remembering a lot of complicated words ahah. So this was a choice and I did think a lot about it. But I never really thought I'll end up with Alzheimer's, I'm more into psychiatry or super technique services like intensive care unit or ER, but well, I have to admit that I like them a lot now lol

Comment: Thank you very much for your nice letter! I enjoyed reading about your life. I hope your birthday celebration was amazing! Our Christmas and New Year's were quiet also. There were a lot of fireworks around, but we didn't have any. We have public transportation in the big cities, but most people have a personal car. We have to have one to get around out here in Suburbia. I would be very nervous to take public transportation alone though.
Response: I've heard some stories about the public transport in other countries and I'm really relieved with the one in Germany. :-)

Response: Hello :-) It might be diffrent, depending on the area as iI`m living in the east of Germany, were most people are atheists, but I found it difficult to find a note card (which is rarer in my city, than a PC) without a Christian message and just neutral greetings. This is great, and my husband will spend the rest of the season trying tor read the front cover. :) I tape the cards up on the closet door - as a bit of a decoration the cats can't get to! - but don't worry, I keep them closed so no one else will read the messages. :)

As for a memory i cherish with an animal one of many is the day we adopted our second puppy Bobby. He was rescued from Puerto Rico and was only 7 lbs. we think hes a bull terrier pit bull mix. When we saw him we knew he would be a part of the family immediately! He was a handful when he was little; even trying to chew on rocks outside lol he has grown into my 7 yr old dogs bestfriend and seeing their inseperable bond is great 🥰

Comment: I got your swap today and it was such a nice surprise. First, your envelope was decorated so prettily. Second, precious washi, I loved it. Third, the thing I enjoyed most was your letter in the notecard. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I also love reading about fellow journalers. Not many start as young as we did, that is so cool. Also, my last name comes from Prussia. There is still family in that part of Germany (cousins so many generations removed!) who have talked about our last name. I am happy that my last name tickled you :D In doing family history, it has gone through many different variations, according to however the religious leader wrote it in the church records.

Comment: What a fun swap to receive! I love how you write your letters - so chatty and filled with excitement! You know, I have always wanted "Supernatural book of monsters, demons, spirits and ghouls". And the "The Mythology of Supernatural - the signs and symbols". I have to tell my husband - my birthday is coming up soon :p (by the way - I was also born on a Sunday!) Thank you for telling about your local Nix. The most popular water spirit in Norway (at least in my region) is also the Nix, or Nøkken as we call him. Always a male, a horse or a log (or any other kind of floating device), and he can only be found in fresh water. And he can drown you, or help you become a master musician (as long as you play the fiddle that is). I have so many bones to pick with Frozen 2. I don't appreciate the way they portray the Sámi people at all, the Northuldra. It seems like they kind of took some of the 'look' and then said 'ah, too much research, let's just take that, add a few reindeer and then let our imaginations run wild based on what we think we know about some Native American tribes'. And let me just say: Reindeer can't rear. And when reindeer run around in circles as a heard, it's because they're stressed out. Sure - it's pretty photogenic, but it's not a sign of reindeer having a good time. It's cool that they took inspiration from the Sámi people and all, but couldn't they have ... made a real effort? I'm going to stop myself here. And agree with you instead - I also like the way they animated the water spirit :) We also had the 'trial by water' witch test in Norway. So stupid. If you die, you're innocent. If you don't die, we'll burn you at the stake. What a lengthy reply! All this to say - thank you so much for the wonderful swap. And thank you so much for the German Harry Potter pages too :D

XDD - And I had no idea that reindeers are stressed out, when running in circles. I think I even saw a documentary some time ago, where this was shown and the narrator was more like "Aww, like how excited they are to see us!". Also great... so they had this stupid idea for a trial in other areas, too. I always wonder, how on earth the first one got this idea? Maybe someone just wanted to get rid of his wife and was thinking of a trial to 100% be a widower afterwards... Anyways, I wish you a wonderful day and don't worry: I like lenghty replys. I love that you're reading about spooky legends before sleep. I must have a look at the witcher series. There have been a number of fans in my mailbox over the months, and this was your book of the mk th which is a glowing recommendation.
Response: Hello :-) Yeah, the legend-book sadly has no English version of it, as it's far too small for being translated, but it has a nice, calming athmosphere before bed, usually with "the good will be rewarded, the bad people in this short story punished"-type of story. XD And yes, the witcher-series is a bid recommodation. It's also good to start with the later published short stories for a first try.

Comment: Can you believe I've never seen 'A Nightmare on Elm Street'? I did watch the 'movies that made us' episode on the movie on Netflix recently, but right now, it's a hard movie to find for rent/viewing. I'll have to see it soon, though! The "Sleepy Hollow" that you mentioned - I really like that one too! :) "The Headless Horseman" is one of my all time favorite stories/movies (I had an odd childhood, didn't i?) and I thought that movie was a good version! There's a TV series here called Sleepy Hollow as well - it's pretty good, overall. The writers really updated the story a lot, it's hard to explain. :) Thanks for sharing your movies!

Comment: Hi Maxi, yes they both arrived on the same day - even more happy mail for me to open 😸 thank you for your lovely envelope and I love the analogy about Autumn saying it's ok to slow down. I always feel guilty if I'm not 'doing something' and beat myself up when I just want to curl up on the sofa in front of the fire with a book or a Netflix binge. Maybe not this year if I look at it as permission from the seasons. Thank you 😸
Response: I have the same problem: I know it's ok to do nothing or to say no to some social event, but in the end I usually feel responsible or committed to go somewhere or do something... But it's slowly getting better! ^.^ Have a great and calm weekend!

Secondly, I really enjoyed reading your letter and your reasons for wanting to chat to Edgar Allan Poe - he definitely sounds like he had a very interesting personality to psychoanalyse. I agree that it would be great if there was some way for him to find out how popular his work is even today, it reminds me of that episode of Dr Who with Van Gogh. I also used to watch Charmed, it was quite fun :D And though I don't really read fantasy anymore, that series sounds very interesting - it's a pity it hasn't been translated into English yet! I also really enjoyed reading about the regional versions of different folklore and monster stories from Germany - it's fascinating to compare the differences with the stories I've heard (which are mostly American/Hollywood style versions).
Response: Hello and thanks for the heart! ^.^ Yeah, the Hollywood-style versions of diffrent monsters are also more known in German culture by now, but the old legends are still told and almost every city has at least one case of a burnt witch or a werewolf in its city museum, to keep their sad stories alive. We are working with all kinds, from PTBS to depression to social phobia... Response: Hello :-) thanks for the nice words and sorry for my late response: I was in holiday and enjoyed it for some time to stay offline. I finished the book before the holiday startet, but all in all it wasnt something to give you a good feeling... So in holiday i read 'pride and prejudice' by Jane Austen to get over this. XD

I have been to a Cathedral in Koln, It was so beautiful. There was a very interesting museum next to it... so packed with interesting artifacts and how the city was created. I didn't even get to see it all. Hopefully, one day I will get to visit your beautiful Church! Happy Day!
Response: Oh yes, the Cathedral in Köln is amazing and I also went to the museum right next to it! - Because people settled far earlier in this part of Germany, most of the historical artefacts are way older than the things you can found in Saxony. :-)
