I readily admit my addiction to Hobby Lobby and books, like to try my hand at more crafty/art things than I can count. I'm a board member of ELAD and the Birmingham Embroidery Guild and a reviewer for Bookpleasures.com. Married with three cats and two dogs, so never a want of a paw in the mix.
I've recently discovered the joy of the 70's era craft books and started snatching them up while they're still cheep to get.
Lost is the one show I make sure to watch/record and I've also recently become a convert to True Blood. Shows like Big Love, The World After People, Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, Hung I'll watch if they're on, but I don't make a point to hunt them down. Mu husband and I have also developed a fascination to the retro tv station that appeared after the HD switch/
I love to embroider, I'm also dabbling in upcycling [just learned the existence of that word just the other day], I paint, sew, bake and I'm convinced that I will be a tie-dye master by the end of summer with the number that have been made so far this summer for group fund raising purposes. I also have an extremely long list of "that looks cool, I want to try it" crafts as well.
I can watch The Princess Bride, The Sweetest Thing, Strictly Ballroom and all John Hughes movies over and over and over again.
The best rule of thumb for me is definitely things outside the box. ;) Let's see...anything crafty, weakness for items that sparkle, black cats, Asian themed items [I have a ball at those tchotchke stores in China town in NYC and Chicago]. I love Dr. Who, Torchwood, Red Dwarf, Star Wars, Star Trek...Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies, B-Movies from the late 50's to early 70's [stuff you'd find on Elvira's Movie Macabre] and the movie posters that went along with them...zombies with kitsch to them. It's been quite awhile, but when I read comics, Wonder Woman, liked the Vertigo line, love Amanda Connor and her work to pieces. I used to do cabaret style belly dancing, I'm dying to take burlesque lessons, poi and hooping are the new things I'm learning. I love scraps and snips of various kinds of fabric, a weakness for beads and I like playing with yarn and needle floss.
