Comment: What a lovely poem - thanks for sending! That was just for starters. After reading all you said with your poem, I draw so many correlations! My father read us poems and stories with such vigor, knowing exactly where to put the emphasis in each line. His oft-read favorites came from James Whitcomb Riley, the Hoosier poet (my parents, one sibling, and I were all Indiana Hoosiers). He could make us laugh with Nine Little Goblins and Little Orphant Annie, and scared the wits out of us when he read The Bear Story. My father also made quite a habit of taking me - only me - to the opera. I remember Carmen and Madame Butterfly well, as well as so many others. My favorites were Mozart's Don Giovanni and The Magic Flute and Rossini's The Barber of Seville. I, too, have two cats, both 15 years old now. They are the current in a long line of both cats and dogs, and I'll never be without one or the other (or both). I love the memories I have - they get warmer and more precious with each passing year. That Alice painting postcard was so pretty. I know a girl in real life who looks just like the girl in that painting. I am envious that you got to live in England for 3 years. I will feel so blessed if I get to even spend a couple weeks there. I think that is wonderful that you love Jane Austen as well. Hahaha ha I saw an episode of "Candid Camera" once where a couple visiting the zoo was told they won an elephant. They kept asking them to sign the papers, and where they were going to keep it. They were so confused. It was so funny!

Comment: At first I saw decorated Christmas trees in a snowy forest, then I saw a holly and berry wreath. I still don't see a ladybug. I think the artist is a bit abstract. I even tried to consider the time the painting was created (1957) and how ladybugs may have looked then. Nope, still don't see it. Thank you for the postcard. Abstract, yes, but I don't think it's ugly. I at least had fun trying to see something in it.

My parents always listened to KD Lang and Lyle Lovett when I was growing up, I don't think I'd heard those specific songs before though. I 100% agree with you on hoping gender can just become less relevant. People are people, it's not always that great to divide us on gender.
This was such a great playlist, really appreciate the thought that went into it!

I have a friend who had to have about a third of her skull removed due to cancer in the bone, and she's been longing for enough healing to wear wigs to boost her confidence. She's just been cleared to wear them after ten months of waiting, and get fitted for her helmet. I've donated my hair multiple times for wigs. They seem timeless, and it makes me wonder who the first person to don a wig was, and if it was for vanity or deception. Homework!

I loved everything about your swap from the card itself (loved the two owls MET card), to the unused bird postcards, to the vintage postcard of Lucille Ball's home in Palm Springs (I wonder if it's a historic place or if someone new lives there...Palm Springs is only about 3-4hours from where I live in Arizona). I'm envious that you live so close to a small bird preserve (3 houses down...AMAZING!). I'd love to be that close! We have a few preserves here about 30min-1hr away, but I rarely can make the time to visit them. 'Killers of a Certain Age' earlier this year and I didn't "love - love" it, but I did appreciate the characters being older women and still kicking butt. :) "The Thursday Murder Club", and "The Marlow Murder Clube" were in the same vein, and quite good. Also "Everyone in my Family has Killed Someone" was enjoyable. I love mysteries. :) I've seen the movie "The Many Who Invented Christmas" but I don't think I knew it was a book. I'll have to go look for it. Thanks so much!! :)
