Comment: Wanda, I will have to check out the outlander series. I haven’t read them nor have I watched the television series. I am on book 17-19 currently. I am re-reading the Harry Potter series. I’m only on book 2. And I’m also reading Anne of Avonlea and Grimms’ fairytales. I’ll write back as soon as I can.
Response: I’ve never gotten into the Harry Potter books. But then the first few books in the Outlander series had been out for quite a while before I read them. I assumed they were just a cheesy romance. Boy, was I wrong! Thanks for the heart.

I’ve been thinking about getting into them again - in particular the swaps I saw for the folded booklet (zine style) ones. Right now, I’m trying to work on a new mixed media Halloween zine. Comment: I received your swap today and thank you for the 5 great PC's & your note. I see by nice note, you garden as well. I garden every year. But have to wait until the frost season ends. Which is the 1st week of May. If I do it any sooner, I'd have to cover them all up & even then, the frost could possible get to them. I hope you were able to get your tomatoes planted to outside. Good luck with your garden.

I did at least half of my carving for letterboxing but then boxing fell by the wayside, and so did carving. I've done a few recently but they are not as good as I use to be. It also coincided with the loss of a great printer that had toner cartridges. The ink transferred nicely to rubber using nail polish remover. I have about 100 carved stamps so it's nice to keep using them for swap-botting.What I also really like about your zine is that you used graph paper for a base. Thanks for sharing it with me.

I don't like to sit out in the cold, and open the door to hand out candy can be tough with pets, so I'm in favor of the 'trunk or treat' option. But I never got into it like you described - it sounds like you did a LOT! I usually only ever carve Jack o' Lanterns. Your version of Halloween sounds like a lot of fun! Hope you have a nice month!

Comment: Hi Wanda, I love the chunk o cardboard swaps too! I kept trying to figure out if you had hand drawn the scene on the front of your postcard! Yes I do appreciate the minimalist theme. In many ways the minimalist style can be even more challenging as there’s no hiding behind layers. Yes gardening is good therapy! And yummy!!
Response: I think I sent you the Madonna and Child ATC...? It’s a stamped image from a rubber stamp that I carved. I didn’t draw the original image. I saw it as part of a larger artwork on a book cover. I traced the image, filled it in with pencil, and transferred it as best I could to the carving medium. Then I carved it out. It’s from the book “A Cry of Stone” by Michael D. O’Brien. His writing and his art is absolutely beautiful. But wait - you said postcard. I don’t think I’ve used that stamp on anything except ATCs. Message me, describing the postcard if you like. I may be mixed up. 🤪

My partner's parents were both Texans, so I got a lot of history from him (I was surprised to learn his parents knew people who grew up in Texas in all-German speaking towns... I had no idea!)

Comment: Great cards, thanks. A limited stash didn't seem to matter much! I keep thinking I'd like chickens or peafowl or something out here.. I live on 20 acres, so I could handle it. I don't think I have the energy for much gardening this year... I say that, but check back in a month and it'll be a different story. I'm definitely planting lots of okra. LOTS. I love it. I want squash and pumpkins, but I've had enormous problems with squash bugs for the past few years. I don't know why they love me so much.... :( I like how you decorated your envelope.

Comment: Wow, this took its time on its journey... almost a record! But it arrived in perfect condition. A very interesting little house... and I'm going to refresh myself on that fairy tale now :)
Response: Oh my gosh! You just now received it? I do have trust issues with our postal system. It has happened twice before - once going to someone else (long ago) and just recently in receiving a little package. No rational explanation. :/ But I am sorry you didn't receive the row house in a timely manner - to say the least! And thank you for not jumping the gun (um...for months!) in rating me. I would have gladly resent if you had let me know. Strangely enough, the thing I sent years before that went missing was also a fairy tail row house - Hansel and Gretel, that time. I resent though. Snow White and Rose Red was one of the first fairy tales I was ever read. I loved that book, and still love the tale.

Comment: I found these little creatures harder to make than I would have thought, too! I like the pink bear-like one creeping over the other ones shoulders :) Can you PM me and let me know what you brushed over the top to make it shiny? I use Aleene's Original Tacky Glue but it gets sticky again if it gets damn along the way in the post.
Response: :) I'd like to try to make more at some point. I use Mod Podge Matte on my atcs and postcards, etc. I like it and it really does protect both collage and painted things. Plus I like the finish. Thanks for the heart! :)

Outsider artists tend to use materials at hand, so I nearly always use food packaging cardboard for my smaller paintings...and I wrap things to mail in newspaper. ;) I enjoy the recycling opportuntiy too. Response: I am SO glad you like it! It did give me some problems...as is my Christmas Row House. But, yes, I love blanket stitch and it seems so cozy and autumnal to me, so that is why I used it on the Thanksgiving House. I do try to use a quotation or short poem on the backs of the row houses that I can. The tiny vintage ecru crocheted lace I used on it, was some I was thrilled to receive in a forum tag. ;)

Sadly, some of the great, large old statuary in that cemetery where I took the photo that I cut that piece from, was severely vandalized a couple of years ago. I don't know if that statue is still standing or if it has been repaired if it was one of the ones that was wrecked. Thanks for the rating and heart.
