Response: So glad you liked them! It was fun to figure this out. As for the glue - there are different recipes online - this particular one is equal parts white glue & vinegar, plus what's supposed to be a drop or two of peppermint extract, but I didn't have that, and put in a drop of Japanese peppermint essential oil. Just to give a minty scent...

Comment: Cheryl, went back and found instructions in the envie. Sorry to make you do them again. They just blended in with the plastic like it was padding. I did not find a coaster though as in the instructions, but I guess I can cut something from felt and try that. Thanks for giving me the kick to try this.
Response: Hi Coleen, the loosely knitted square IS the coaster - the first step is to full (shrink) that so that you have a base to felt upon. Normally I'd have sent the wool for you to knit it, but in this case I knit it for you because you aren't a knitter. Needle felting onto synthetic felt might not work - I'm not sure - it might not "grab" the fibres - I think I'd stick with the fulling of the knit square, and using it as a base. Have fun! Needle felting is lots of fun, and I think you'll enjoy it!

Especially at a time of day when you're kinda surprised to be hungry? Drink a tall glass of water & wait five or ten minutes & see if you're actually hungry. Comment: What an adorable little Alice - a sweet face and a beautifully-chosen bit of vintage lace hanky for that pinafore! She has a rustic charm, and I'll have a hard time keeping her away from my six-year old daughter, who loves to investigate Mommy's swaps and claim little bits... Since you asked for pointers: I try to finish the backs of my dolls as well - how about spraypainting your card or pasting solid paper on the back of it before cutting out? The joints are nicely done, allowing for lots of poses. With a 'sketch' style pale face, you could try matching the colour and style of the arms and legs - looks nice against that blue dress. Layering of the hair is nicely done - try using a textured or shiny cardstock for more interest there (I loved that you made her brunette as there are so many blonde Alices!) A real sweetie - thanks again!

Comment: what a great topic for your first zine! it's great to see people aware of the world around them, and trying to make a difference. have you ever heard of direct trade? im not sure if its hit the chocolate trade yet, but its a pretty great thing to happen to coffee production. the farmers get paid even more than through fair trade. the worlds a changin'! :)

Even fair trade chocolate is a little scarce here - it just kills me, b/c you know that if government, or retailers, or consumers banded together, the horrible things would stop quickly. Sometimes our own little world we live in isn't serving the bigger one well at all. )o: Thanks for the tip, and thanks for the heart.
